The Big Event!

Rachel Holmes

I have been working with my client Brendoncare for about 3 years. As a registered charity, Brendoncare is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people.  Care is at the heart of all that they do through their care centres and clubs throughout the south coast.

This week Marc and I were invited to attend the Brendoncare Annual Event.   The event is a chance for staff, volunteers and invited guests to come together and celebrate the great work the charity does for older people.

The atmosphere was great and everyone had nothing but praise for the staff and volunteers at Brendoncare. There were Homes and Clubs showcases highlighting the importance of the charity to older people in the community and an engaging talk from guest speaker Peter Mead, Chairman of Omnicom Europe.

The food was freshly prepared by the Brendoncare care centre kitchen staff and proved to be very popular amongst guests…..including Marc and I!

The highlight of the day for me was hearing Winton Friendship Club member, Jean Gell recite a poem she had written about her club membership. The words were so moving and highlighted the importance of the Brendoncare clubs in tackling the huge problem of loneliness and social isolation amongst older people.

I came away from the event feeling proud to be working with such a valued charity and proud of the work we do for Brendoncare in their quest for improving the quality of life for older people.
